Dosn't bother me. I can see how it may cause some anxiety in odd situations. Like when Witnesses start saying Jehovah this and Jehovah that. This allways made me feel uncomfortable when there was people who where non witnesses around. I felt it made us look like we were crazy because we didn't know how to just say God.

Does the word "Jehovah" cause you anxiety?
by undercover inso i was listening to the radio and an old grateful dead song was on.
"the music never stopped" was the song.
i haven't heard the song in a while and i was bebopping along to the music when the lyrics "they're a band beyond description, like jehovah's favorite choir" was sung.. i kinda just froze for a split second and lost my breath.

I'm curious about the book as well. Let us all know what you think. Sometimes I worry that these sorts of books are more about the authors journey out of the Watchtower instead of a real study of the material. I'd like to know how this one holds up.

If my wife and I both die who do we leave in custody of the kids?
by mkr32208 inmy wife and i are both out.
her parents and my parents are all still in... not only that but my parents aren't balanced enough to handle the kids so they are right out!
her mom's health is bad but i think they could handle the kids but the would "try" to raise them as witnesses, nothing we could leave in writing or say would change that!

If you don't have any really close friends or relatives then it looks like your kids are in for troubble. Keep on living, that's your best bet. Mabye have in your will a stipulation that says they have to read Crisis of Conscience before they can inherit your money.

Pat Roberston is the Antichrist...
No seriously, the guys a total ass. He actually said God told him that Bush was going to accomplish great things in 2005...oops:( that didn't happen.
I remember a long time ago on that show "unsolved mysteries" they did a piece about how people where sending him bombs and trying to kill him. At the time I was young and didn't understand why anybody would want to kill him. Looking at it now, I don't think there is any question. -

Remember too that these kind of discoveries are used more to promote political agendas instead of Bible discussion.

Shaking my head, JW's talking about Paradise
by DevonMcBride in.
they have no idea how brainwashed and cult-like they appear to be when us "worldly" people read stuff like this.. http://www.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=messageboard.viewthread&entryid=10581786&groupid=100816827&adtopicid=27&mytoken=edca818c-e6e4-bec5-e18a6031a7aee4cb51834383

I'm sorry but this is just totally sad. Instead of questioning logic, they turn to confused reasoning. Will our pets die? What the hell is that? Don't they realize that MANY ANIMALS EAT EACH OTHER! That the entire planet and it's life consists of something call THE FOOD CHAIN! Will bugs die in the new system? How about fish, will God let the fish live forever?
Since I didn't grow up a JW, I never really was at this level. In all truth, I feel real pity. This is a mindset they have been trained to move with. Even when I was a JW this kind of talked scared me. -

1963 UN resolution anyone else noticed this?
by skyman ini found this intresting the sun god noted above, now notice the 1963 resolution not to join the un.
"that we will continue to look to him as the great sun from whom comes our enlightenment, guidance and healing.
we will glorify him and not join idolatrous men in looking to bright-shining ones of mankind as the source of mental and spiritual enlightenment and of worldly prosperity".

I've been to that spot many times. It's a strange place. I wish my name could be on that pyramid. I love the building the Masons put up right next to the cementary. Makes for a more colorful atmosphere. Where did you find that quote from? Is it in one of the mags?

Assemblies: Were You Always on the Prowl for a Mate?
by prophecor init was usually encouraged that we try to remain single somewhere during the assembly, especially the summer conventions.
some of you sisters were so hott with your summer dresses, hair freshly done.
though i went for the obligatory meeting attendance, it was nice to be able to go on a fishing expedition for sisters, if that was your choosing.

There where these two guys (brothers?) who used to come to our assebmly. They where totally out in left field. They had these giant happy faces and talked like they had been drugged. They looked you straight in the eye, but it was like they where looking right through you, instead of at you. It was totally obvious they where looking for girls. I haven't seen them in a long time. I wonder what became of them...

i just had to share
by walkaway ini met a friend of mine for lunch today, and lunch extended into coffee.
now this is a girl from a rural background and always seemed to be doing the right thing.
as coffee progressed she asked me what i thought of the new blood card- we discussed that for a while, then she mentioned another doubt.

I think the "young ones" are looking at the organization in ways their parents and grandparents never thought of. These people were told that they would see Gods promises and now, later in life are fading away, without those promises fullfilled. In time these kind of hollow promises that go unfullfilled really leave a mark.
Keep up the good work. Mabye i'll be a little bit more open in my conversation with others too.
